Pain Management of Texarkana Physician ReferralOur physician provides pain management care for persons with chronic pain. We are here to provide medication management services for the treatment of chronic pain as a service to the local medical community. In addition to pain management services, we also provide outpatient drug DETOX services to a limited number of patients suffering from opioid addiction. Our physicians are certified by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration for management of these difficult cases.
We conduct a systematic pain assessment process and implement a personalized pain management plan that includes a thorough history and physical that documents the nature and intensity of the pain, current and past treatments for pain, the underlying or coexisting disease or condition causing the pain, the effect of the pain on physical and psychological functions and any history of substance abuse which may warrant referral to the proper professional. Consistent with the assessment and treatment of chronic pain, routine and continued evaluation and medication management is mandated, and if necessary, modification and/or discontinuation of opioid therapy. In addition, we will document and refer patients as necessary for additional evaluation to achieve treatment objectives. Our treatment approach is to promote understanding by the patient of the potential benefits, hazards and side effects of the treatment, the use of adjunct therapy, and the need for our compliance effort and the advantages of an action plan that anticipates pain and does not merely react to it. We ensure through mass spectometry drug testing that the patient is taking pain medications consistent with the prescribed dosage plan.
